September 2009

September was a busy and very exciting month in the Powell house!! Our sweet baby girl turned ONE on the 24th and it was a very bittersweet day!! We are so proud to see what all she has accomplished and how much she has grown, but we are a little sad that our infant is now a BIG ONE YEAR OLD!!! She has turned into such a sweet, but sassy little girl! She is so much fun and we LOVE to watch her discover more and more every day. She's walking, talking, and into everything.....she definitely keeps us on our toes and very busy. We enjoy every minute of it!! Some of the cute things that she has started over the past few months are saying bye bye AND waving together, blowing kisses, "talking to da-da" on the phone, by saying "hey da-da", saying Jax, yes, shaking her head no, pointing (especially when she wants something), hugging her toys, kissing her toys, but mostly herself and babies in pictures and on cell phones, making cute sounds with her hands on her lips (you know the bubububu sound??) and the Indian sound with her mouth open wide!!! There are many more but it's so hard to document them all, we have great memories to keep forever. Lilly has enjoyed playing with her all of her "big girl" toys that she received for her birthday and looks so cute in all of her new outfits!! She's such a diva...lol!!! Thanks everyone for the sweet Birthday wishes and gifts! We are very blessed to have such wonderful and loving family and friends!!! Lilly, Blake and I love you all very much!!!! XOXO

First ASU game

Saturday, September 4th we took Lilly to her very first ASU Red Wolves game!! Daddy was so proud to have his baby girl there to show her off! Football season is Blake's favorite time of the year and ASU games are a very important part of our lives. We started the season off right by taking our princess with us for the first game!! She actually had fun and liked to watch the game! She also had fun "people watching" and flirting with all of the boys ;) We posted pictures from the game so you guys can see how much fun we had and her awesome outfit that we had made just for the games!!! Thanks to Amy Barrett for the shirt and Gloria Evans for the tutu!!!

Lilly's Walking

We have entered a new chapter in the "Life of Lilly"....she is now an official WALKER!!! Around 9 months old, she would take a step or two and everyone (including us) thought she would be walking by herself in no time, she had other plans!!! Then, at 11 months old she took several steps at a time just to fall down and begin to crawl which she realized was faster! She got up to 5 or 6 steps at a time right before we took a vacation to the beach the first of August. That's when we say she "forgot how to walk". Actually what happened was we carried her most of the trip or were on the beach and we all know how hard it is to walk in sand even as adults who have been walking what seems like forever!!! So, she had no chance to really walk for 8 days!! This week she just decided to walk alone, but still a little cautious Tuesday night September the 8th, just for the record!! Blake and I both were at home watching her enter this bittersweet time in our lives. We are super proud of her, but at the same time this is a reality check to what is actually happening...she's becoming a walking, talking toddler!! This is what happened, one of her favorite shows on Noggin (a preschool TV station) is The Backyardigans and the theme song came on and Lilly was just about in the kitchen which is across the room from the TV and she jumped up (literally) and took off towards the TV. She stopped once and sat down half way to take a break, but the music started again and she jumped up to her feet once again, started dancing, then took several more steps all the way to the TV where she stood so proudly with her hands on "The Backyardigans". It was a priceless moment for all three of us!!!

Lilly's first trip to the park

Saturday, we decided it was so nice outside and a great day for a trip to Craighead Forest Park!! It was a beautiful day and perfect temperature for an afternoon outside! We had a fabulous time watching Lilly discover new things. I LOVE to watch her explore the world and take everything in just like a sponge. It's like I can just see the wheels turn inside her tiny little head, it's one of my favorite things about being a parent! She is our little adventure and we can't get enough of our little Sassy Princess!!! She loved swinging and didn't want to get off, but she wasn't as thrilled about the slide even in her daddy's lap. Our trip also included a visit to her Great Grandad and Great Uncle's memorial bench there at the park! We took plenty of pictures and want to share :)

Very First Post

Hello all!! I decided we needed to join the rest of the world and create a blog. It seems like such an easy way for all of our family and friends to see what's new in the Powell world via the internet!! Here we are and only about 11 months late. Since we are a little behind I want to start with our "Watch Lilly Grow" album so you guys can see how much our tiny little baby has grown into a sassy little toddler!!
