19 Month Spring Photos

If you all haven't noticed I'm a huge fan of photos of my baby girl!! We haven't had any photos taken by our photographer since Christmas photos which was in November, so 5 months ago and that was just too long in between!! So, we decided to get some spring pictures made outside since she's now 1 and a HALF!! That's huge....no longer a baby and now she's definitely a sassy toddler. The original session was scheduled for today (Thursday) but I noticed the great chance for rain so we got it moved up to today! We wanted to make sure we caught the flowers in full bloom and it worked out just perfect and we got some super sweet pictures! Lilly has really turned into a Diva lately! It's funny because I heard that she would be sassy and a messpot this whole time, but it was yesterday during the photo session when I really realized how much of a priss she really is. The photographer said "boy, do y'all have your hands full, she's one sassy little girl!!" HA! Blake and I looked at him and at the same time said "I KNOW!!" Whew....she was cutting her eyes at him, flirting, making so many different face filled with all sorts of expressions, pointing and demanding things like where she wanted US to stand and what goes where, acting innocent one minute then showing out the next, and just being such a drama filled little girl! We love every ounce of it and think it's precious now, we just pray that she stays sweet along with all that attitude as she grows up. Attitude in a good way hopefully! Our little princess is almost 26 lbs and talking more and more everyday. We definitely have to watch everything we say around her, she's always listening even if we don't think she is! Her "big thing" right now is SHOES.....imagine that!! She likes to change shoes at least 5 times a day. Her Pops would say her mommy was the same way about clothes. I changed clothes at least 3 times a day. What's funny is that my dad always pointed that out but I can't remember my mom being upset about it, she would just wash them and put them right back for me to wear again. Thanks mom, you're the best at laundry!!!! I'm pretty sure when Lilly gets a little older she will follow in mommy's footsteps and I'll just try to remember how I was and how great my mom was. Back to Lilly, she use to just go to her shoe closet and get random shoes and bring them for us to put on her, but not now...she goes to the closet, finds a set (same shoe), brings them to us to put on her, then she takes her shoes that she had on and puts them in the closet. I was very impressed the first time I saw her do this, but she likes to make sure they're all together!! She likes to clean-up at her sitters house by putting all the toys back in the basket so I guess that's where this is coming from. Her sitter said she's the best at clean-up time, but not so great at sharing! We are working on that, but need to find her some other kids her age that want the same things she wants. All the adults in her life just give her whatever she wants and whenever she wants it and so do her big cousins Rylee, Grayson and sometimes Payton! Haha! There's no denying that she's spoiled rotten!!

Hope you all are enjoying this beautiful spring we are having!!
We will share again soon!!

My Birthday WEEK

For those of you who don't know, I celebrate my birthday ALL week...haha!! I love this time of year and why not make a whole week all about me! I'll hopefully never change that, growing old is no big deal when you have so many wonderful and loving people in your life to celebrate those wonderful years with! I started off the week with an awesome day filled with cake, balloons, celebrating and lunch with the wonderful people I work with! I also won tickets to the John Mayer concert by calling in to the radio and answering some questions with some help from the girls. I am a HUGE fan of his and asked Blake for these tickets for my Birthday back in December, but we ended up making other plans so he didn't bother! BUT, I won them so we were going for sure! We had a great weekend planned. Friday night we went to the John Mayer concert at the Fed Ex forum in Memphis, then drove to Forrest City to spend the night and wake up to my sweet girl for a birthday hug and kiss, next we headed to Hot Springs to go to the horse races for the first time with almost all of our closest friends. Some had been before, but it was my first and will not be the last, I loved all the excitement and will go back as soon as we can! After the races, we went to dinner with the whole gang and had a fun night of celebrating. Then, Sunday morning we got up and headed back to Forrest City for a family birthday celebration where we enjoyed a yummy dinner prepared by Rylee and Mom (Grammy) and cooked by Aaron!! We had strawberry cake which is my favorite. We then headed back to JB after a fun-filled weekend with most of our closest friends and family! It was a great time and a weekend I'll never forget!! Here are a few pictures from the weekend plus a few of Lilly's favorite face to make! She's so silly and such a poser!!! The last one is the sleeping princess, guess it's time for that toddler bed because she is growing out of her crib!!!

Blake and I at the John Mayer concert, it was my second time to see him live but just as good if not better than the first concert!!! He is just amazing on that guitar!!!

Back to Blogging

Ok, everyone...I have been informed by my father that I have not updated my blog since October and that is just unacceptable especially since he doesn't use "myface" aka facebook and that is where I do the most of my networking and posting pictures. SO, I have decided to do much better about keeping this blog up to date. I will try my best!! The funny thing is, it's so simple so why not?!?! So, here goes.......

We have been very busy chasing Miss Lilly around. She is so funny these days, she definitely keeps us and anyone else watching entertained! She doesn't meet a stranger, just like her daddy!!! She is such a joy and we love every moment we have with her. Lilly loves to talk in her own language and also says random things that are just so funny to hear coming out of our "baby"! Her newest thing is to say Uh-Uhh...which means no, and she has also started a new laugh that sounds pretty fake to me, but she could be getting some of it from her Pops who has a special laugh with his grand-kids!! Those two things we recently caught on video and will share.

Monday afternoon when I picked her up from the sitters house, she said Lilly was acting like she felt nauseous and needed to vomit, so I covered her in a blanket after putting her in her seat and we headed home. You can probably imagine what happened next, she vomited on our way home but luckily just on the blanket that I placed on her just for that very reason. So, we got home and I stripped her in the driveway and headed straight to the bathtub where this first video was captured. She got sick another time after, but slept all night and was fine the next morning. BUT, that's when the bug hit me...I was sick the whole next day but Blake came home to my rescue. He played with Lilly all afternoon while I slept it off!

The next video was taken last night (Wednesday) while we were finishing up dinner. I was teasing Blake about something and Lilly thought it was so funny so she started this silly laugh. It was just so cute. We love to see this new personality that is shining through that sweet face we have admired for almost 18 months now!! Our baby girl is growing up!!!

This post wouldn't be complete without a few photos of the Sassy Princess.....

September 2009

September was a busy and very exciting month in the Powell house!! Our sweet baby girl turned ONE on the 24th and it was a very bittersweet day!! We are so proud to see what all she has accomplished and how much she has grown, but we are a little sad that our infant is now a BIG ONE YEAR OLD!!! She has turned into such a sweet, but sassy little girl! She is so much fun and we LOVE to watch her discover more and more every day. She's walking, talking, and into everything.....she definitely keeps us on our toes and very busy. We enjoy every minute of it!! Some of the cute things that she has started over the past few months are saying bye bye AND waving together, blowing kisses, "talking to da-da" on the phone, by saying "hey da-da", saying Jax, yes, shaking her head no, pointing (especially when she wants something), hugging her toys, kissing her toys, but mostly herself and babies in pictures and on cell phones, making cute sounds with her hands on her lips (you know the bubububu sound??) and the Indian sound with her mouth open wide!!! There are many more but it's so hard to document them all, we have great memories to keep forever. Lilly has enjoyed playing with her all of her "big girl" toys that she received for her birthday and looks so cute in all of her new outfits!! She's such a diva...lol!!! Thanks everyone for the sweet Birthday wishes and gifts! We are very blessed to have such wonderful and loving family and friends!!! Lilly, Blake and I love you all very much!!!! XOXO

First ASU game

Saturday, September 4th we took Lilly to her very first ASU Red Wolves game!! Daddy was so proud to have his baby girl there to show her off! Football season is Blake's favorite time of the year and ASU games are a very important part of our lives. We started the season off right by taking our princess with us for the first game!! She actually had fun and liked to watch the game! She also had fun "people watching" and flirting with all of the boys ;) We posted pictures from the game so you guys can see how much fun we had and her awesome outfit that we had made just for the games!!! Thanks to Amy Barrett for the shirt and Gloria Evans for the tutu!!!

Lilly's Walking

We have entered a new chapter in the "Life of Lilly"....she is now an official WALKER!!! Around 9 months old, she would take a step or two and everyone (including us) thought she would be walking by herself in no time, she had other plans!!! Then, at 11 months old she took several steps at a time just to fall down and begin to crawl which she realized was faster! She got up to 5 or 6 steps at a time right before we took a vacation to the beach the first of August. That's when we say she "forgot how to walk". Actually what happened was we carried her most of the trip or were on the beach and we all know how hard it is to walk in sand even as adults who have been walking what seems like forever!!! So, she had no chance to really walk for 8 days!! This week she just decided to walk alone, but still a little cautious Tuesday night September the 8th, just for the record!! Blake and I both were at home watching her enter this bittersweet time in our lives. We are super proud of her, but at the same time this is a reality check to what is actually happening...she's becoming a walking, talking toddler!! This is what happened, one of her favorite shows on Noggin (a preschool TV station) is The Backyardigans and the theme song came on and Lilly was just about in the kitchen which is across the room from the TV and she jumped up (literally) and took off towards the TV. She stopped once and sat down half way to take a break, but the music started again and she jumped up to her feet once again, started dancing, then took several more steps all the way to the TV where she stood so proudly with her hands on "The Backyardigans". It was a priceless moment for all three of us!!!
